Tracking markers, clean plates, lighting reference and correct lens data cost minutes during production and save days in post. Effects retrofitted onto footage shot without them are always harder and more expensive.
On-set supervision turns an expensive fix into a straightforward composite.
Most VFX in commercial work is rigs, reflections and logos being taken out, not spectacle being added.
CG matches when its lighting matches. Everything else is secondary.
